Kuriju is the Guarani word for Anaconda (Eunectes murinus), one of the largest of all snakes. An average length for an adult snake is 5,5 to 6 meters (18 to 20 feet), but specimens above 7,5 meters has been registered. An average weight for an adult is 45 kg (100 pounds), that presuming being the net weight without much food inside.
Because of its size, it appears to be rather slow when traveling on land, but completely the opposite in water. Anacondas are known to have the potential to reach incredibly high speeds in water.
They eat almost anything; fish, birds, mammals, and other reptiles. Large anacondas may even consume larger preys such as tapirs, deer,
capybaras, caimans, and sometimes even crocodiles and
jaguars. A fight with a Jaguar might go the other way, so this is probably not very common food for an Anaconda.
