The local "trick" to avoid annoying mosquito is to take larger amounts of B-vitamin (B-5), in good time before traveling to the Amazon region. Wild Acai soluble powder has a lot of B-vitamins and would do the trick, but if you don't have it available, visit your pharmacy. You should start taking B-vitamins taken at least 1-2 weeks before you travel. If you start close upon a departure, you will not have any benefit from taking it.
It is not a big problem, but to avoid problems it is better to take precautions. It will make your stay more pleasant, and you will enjoy it more.
